What Simulations Are Available

The Strategies section gives you access to hundreds of GTO solutions, but not every poker scenario can be solved exactly. This article explains what types of simulations exist in FlopHero, how to know if your spot is covered, and what to do when it isn’t.

What Each Simulation Type Covers

FlopHero’s simulation library continues to grow, but here’s the current coverage:

Precision Simulations
These focus on real, high-frequency spots you’ll see most often - single-raised pots, 3-bet pots, and common 4-bet situations across multiple board textures.
They provide the most accurate GTO data available.
Learn more in the article HERO.Precision Overview.

Expand Simulations
Expand uses approximation algorithms to generate results for spots that haven’t been solved exactly.
Use this mode to study rare or complex hands, including multiway pots.
See Understanding Simulation Types for details on how this works.

Preflop Only Simulations
FlopHero covers nearly every preflop setup - different stacks, positions, and player counts.
If your goal is mastering preflop fundamentals, these simulations are all you need.

Checking What’s Available

When building a scenario in the Game Configuration screen, FlopHero automatically displays which simulation types are available.

  • Clickable options mean a solution exists.
  • Grayed-out options mean the combination hasn’t been solved yet.

This saves time by preventing attempts to analyze unsupported spots.

Why Some Spots Aren’t Solved

Poker’s complexity grows exponentially with every decision and player added.
Each new variable - board texture, stack depth, position, or player count - creates millions of possible branches.

Precision simulations require heavy computation, so they focus on common situations that matter most for EV.
Expand simulations cover more territory, but they still have limits. Deep multiway pots remain extremely demanding.

What’s Coming Next

The team continues to add new solved spots and advanced study tools.
Upcoming features include:

  • Range by Action - View how ranges evolve after each player decision.
  • Aggregated Reports - Merge multiple simulations to spot long-term patterns.
  • Graph Range vs Range - Visualize how two players’ ranges interact.

You can follow updates in the Strategies section as these tools roll out.

When Your Spot Isn’t Solved

If your exact scenario isn’t available:

Simplify It
Study a similar but simpler spot. A 3-way pot without a solution can often be approximated by a comparable heads-up scenario. The strategic logic carries over.

Try Expand
If no Precision version exists, the Expand simulation can provide a solid estimate.

Focus on Preflop
Many postflop mistakes start preflop. Use Preflop Only simulations to refine opening, 3-betting, and calling ranges before diving into complex spots.
